“Presidential Election on a Thursday to deny many students a vote”

Eamon Quinlan, Third Level Representative for Ógra Fianna Fáil has described today’s decision by the Fine Gael and Labour government to hold the forthcoming presidential election on a Thursday as “hypocritical and of great concern to hundreds of thousands of students”. Speaking just after today’s announcement, Quinlan urged the government to “urgently consider moving the election to a weekend in order to facilitate those studying away from home at third level”.
